Your Role on the Team

Under the supervision of Dr. Nancy Pike and her multi-institutional research team, the Staff Research Associate (SRA) will apply established procedures to address grant or research project objectives. Follow standard practices in psychosocial and neurocognitive assessments in human subjects research and will receive detailed training and instructions on all assignments.

The Staff Research Associate (SRA) will closely work with the primary Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Pike and will oversee all research activities but not limited to : (1) assisting with research protocol development, (2) assisting research participant recruitment with PI (3) collecting research data via hospital or clinic records, and online platforms, (4) maintaining records [paper / electronic] and databases [Excel or SPSS], (5) outcome dissemination (analysis, writing abstracts, manuscripts, and grant proposals) and (6) providing general administrative support and other duties as assigned (IRB, ordering supplies). The SRA must be able to work independently and as part of a neuroimaging research team at UCLA. Must have a car and be able to drive for occasional Saturday or Sunday research activities / testing. The position will be based in the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Pike's research aims to improve psychosocial and neurocognitive outcomes in adolescents and adult with chronic medical conditions, in particular, congenital and acquired heart disease and health equity.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required, including high fluency in speaking, reading, and writing Spanish.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required :

• Bilingual in English / Spanish with high fluency in speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow-through on assignments as part of a multi-institutional research team.
• Ability to interact with people in various social, cultural, economic and educational background.
• Ability to maintain IRB CITI training and assist with IRB annual reviews and new research applications.
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate verbally and in writing / email.
• Demonstrated skills in excellent time management.
• Strong attention to detail. Ability to establish and maintain study files and records [paper and electronic] and ordering study supplies.
• Ability to properly evaluate information, and prepare concise, well-organized reports, summaries, and correspondence.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have a bachelor's degree in related field (e.g., nursing, social work, public health, psychology, sociology, biology).
• 1-3 years' experience in human subject research with recruitment / screening and biobehavioral / cognitive testing (e.g., youth, young adults with chronic medical conditions with functional or cognitive disabilities, and caregiver / parent interaction).
