Job Purpose
The Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for the planning, installation, operation, maintenance, and improvement of all manufacturing and physical plant assets in a 24 / 7 manufacturing operation. Under the direction of the Vice President of Operations, the Senior Engineering Manager will lead the Engineering, Reliability, and Maintenance teams with a focus on safety, reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities :
- Management of the Engineering, Reliability & Maintenance functions in a 24 / 7 manufacturing environment. Direct Reports include Reliability & Maintenance Manager, Engineers (5).
- Implement a collaborative approach to manufacturing support between operations, engineering, and maintenance in line with 24 / 7 facility operational needs. Actively support Gemba Walks, 5S, and Kaizen Activities throughout the facilities.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, EH&S, and Supply Chain to achieve stated goals / KPIs for Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost improvement.
- Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs, including KPIs, and ensure effectiveness of maintenance activities.
- Identify and establish training programs focused on safety, technical skill, and professional development of the ER&M team.
- Establish, develop, maintain effective third-party relationships that support facility, plant, process, and grounds related maintenance.
- Ensure all installation, maintenance, and repair activities are performed in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements.
- Identify and plan investments for the continued improvement of manufacturing and facility equipment / processes.
- Project Manager for all significant capital investment projects and facility expansion / renovation activities.
- Establish clear processes for the transition of items from Project Phase to Process / Production phase.
- Manage budgets for projects and departmental expenses within established goals.
Experience / Requirements / Preferences :
B.S. Engineering discipline with a minimum of 10 years’ experience required.Previous Management / Supervisory experience and / or plant level responsibilities in a 24 / 7 manufacturing operation required.Demonstrated experience in Engineering Project Management required, program level management preferred. Experience with Smartsheet Project Management preferred.Demonstrated experience in maintenance & reliability management in a multi-shift manufacturing facility required.Demonstrated experience in operation and maintenance of physical plant equipment (Boilers, Compressors, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Heat Exchangers, HVAC) and Pollution Control Equipment (RTOs, Dust Collection) required.Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and NEC required.Experience in Web Converting, Paper / Pulp Converting, or similar high speed, rotating equipment environment preferred.AutoCAD, SolidWorks experience preferred.Experience utilizing CMMS systems required, MaintainX preferred.Must be capable of working flexible hours to accommodate 24 / 7 manufacturing operation, including weekends, and on-call requirements.Some travel (Physical Demands
Ability to work in an office setting, and spend primary working hours at a desk using a computer and other office equipment such as printers, copiers, postage machines, etc.Must be able to use, handle, and manipulate items and materials, including hazardous materials, with proper material handling equipment / tools.Must complete 24 / 40-hour HazWoper Training and be medically qualified to wear respiratory protection.Safety Requirements
Due to the nature of the work performed in this job, the employee is required to wear safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection when needed, and ANSII-approved steel or composite-toed footwear while on the production floor.
