American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for 12-hour night shifts in an acute care setting, requiring a current CA RN license and advanced certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospitalUnit includes 19 ED beds, 3 fast track beds, and 2 triage areas with a separate entrancePatient ratios are typically 1 : 4Typical patient population includes standard ER cases; no trauma, STEMI and stroke receiving centerUses Cerner EMR system12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requiredFirst to float to all other Sacramento facilities; mid-shift float possible but rareCharge RN present but generally not assigned direct patient care except for breaksStaffing includes 2 techs or EMTs per shift, with most being paramedics; patient sitters available as needed and 24 / 7 social services supportBedside report is performed at shift changeBlock scheduling is generally not availableFloor-specific orientation provided with 1-2 days on the floor alongside a preceptorScrub color is navy, including undershirts and optional scrub jacketsDaily responsibilities include caring for a broad spectrum of emergent patient presentations, prioritizing STEMI and stroke casesNo ventilator management is needed for this roleHospitalist or Intensivist available in-house 24 / 7, along with RT and Pharmacy supportMust pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance; failure to pass after two attempts results in ineligibility for six months at certain facilitiesOn the first day of orientation, a pass / fail test on sterile technique for Foley catheter and central line dressing changes is administeredCandidates may not have worked directly for any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year; PRN work through outside firms may be consideredHoliday coverage rotates with core staffPsych holds are managed with security up frontUnit features a unique "triangle" configuration with two main hallways at angles to a central hallway\n \n Requirements\n
Active CA RN license required at the time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience requiredCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALSAbility to read and interpret EKG strips requiredExperience using Cerner EMR is beneficialMust provide a copy of your driver’s license for considerationTwo references required : one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years\n Benefits\n
