Overview
Electrical Test Engineer – Intergalactic, now part of Unison, a GE Aerospace Company, is seeking an engineer to lead and mentor test technicians in testing the electronics of aerospace systems and components. The role ensures high-standard test execution against system requirements, delivers quality hardware, and supports program milestones from inception to delivery.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Read and accurately interpret customer requirements; design test plans, acceptance, and qualification procedures to prove system performance, safety margins, durability, and quality.
- Lead, support, and administer electronic tests on high-value assets, including vibration, shock, TVAC, and other MIL-STD and NASA-standard testing.
- Perform verification, validation, and HALT testing.
- Clarify uncertainties and resolve issues in cooperation with engineering and technical staff.
- Operate machines, hand tools, power tools, and refrigerant equipment in an AS9100 aerospace environment.
- Set up and operate precision calibrated electronics tools such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and function generators.
- Support engineering with diagnosis and troubleshooting from component level to full system builds.
- Assist with component and flight-vehicle check-outs, including acceptance tests.
- Support payload handling and integration operations, including spacecraft assemblies.
- Operate material / hardware handling equipment (hoists, lifts, tugs, etc.) as required.
- Perform assembly and system check-outs on ground support equipment for program testing and spacecraft operations.
- Support root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Apply written, verbal, listening, and visual communication skills to ensure accurate information exchange.
- Proactively identify issues, make recommendations, and promote continuous improvement.
- Take ownership of personal and team performance.
- Review and acknowledge internal document control, coordination memos, and SOPs.
- Travel to testing sites, customer facilities, and testing events as needed.
- Coordinate and collaborate with crew members to accomplish tasks and perform other assigned duties.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.Minimum 3 years of experience in Electrical Test Engineering with basic coding / scripting (preferably MATLAB or Python).At least 1 year of basic CAD experience (preferably Altium or other electrical design software).Willingness to travel up to 25%.Desired Characteristics
Experience designing, analyzing, testing, integrating, qualifying, and fielding electrical products.Knowledge of steady-state and dynamic system modeling and high-level control architecture.Basic CAD experience (preferably Altium).Working knowledge of aerospace technical disciplines such as electrical systems, system controls, embedded controls, development testing, qualification analysis, and testing.Understanding of aerospace requirements management processes—traceability, verification, and validation.Familiarity with major aircraft systems : environmental control, powerplant, electrical, hydraulics, controls, avionics, power generation, and structures.Creative innovation.Additional Information
This position is on-site in St. George, UT. The role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information; offers are contingent on obtaining the necessary government authorization for non-U.S. persons.
