POSITION SUMMARY
The Development Manager I supports the mission of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (UMDF) by managing Energy for Life family fundraising teams, executing event logistics, and supporting third-party fundraising initiatives. This role is focused on ensuring the successful implementation of Energy for Life Walks and community events through strong volunteer engagement, operational excellence, and stewardship of family fundraisers. The ideal candidate is highly organized, service-oriented, and thrives in building relationships with families and volunteers.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Team Engagement
Recruit, cultivate, and steward community and family fundraising teams across assigned Energy for Life markets.Provide resources, coaching, and recognition to team captains to help them achieve fundraising goals.Partner with Marketing / Communications to deliver team toolkits, welcome packets, and digital fundraising resources.Ensure accurate attribution of donations to teams and individuals.Event Logistics & Volunteer Support
Lead logistical planning and execution of assigned Energy for Life Walks, including venue selection, permits, insurance, vendor management, and on-site coordination.Recruit, train, and manage local volunteer committees to support logistics planning and execution.Develop and manage event timelines, ensuring milestones are met.Serve as the on-site lead for event setup, execution, and teardown.Third-Party Fundraising Events
Support families and community volunteers in planning and executing third-party fundraising events.Provide guidance on UMDF policies, budgeting, and branding for external events.Ensure events are added to UMDF calendars and receive appropriate marketing and recognition.Manage event-specific budgets and ensure alignment with revenue and expense goals.Track and report on family team revenue, volunteer engagement, and third-party fundraising activity.Provide weekly updates during event season.QUALIFICATIONS
13 years of experience in event management, fundraising, or nonprofit development.Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detailAbility to recruit, train, and support volunteers.Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with families and community fundraisers.Proficiency with fundraising platforms e.g., Classy, Salesforce CRM, and Microsoft Office Suite.Willingness to travel (approximately 2025%) and work occasional weekends.CORE COMPETENCIES :
