CEG Solutions, a dynamic design-build firm specializing in cutting-edge energy infrastructure projects, is seeking a Commissioning Engineer based in the Mid-Atlantic area, supporting a major client with high-impact building projects in the Metro Washington DC Area.
You will work with a team of experienced commissioning agents and engineers to manage the quality control process for new construction and retrofit projects. Our job is to ensure that our client's vision becomes reality. We take the time to understand that vision, then serve as a key technical partner throughout design and construction.
In this role, your contributions will be critical to project success. Your ability to learn quickly, ask the right questions, and deliver on commitments will directly impact both our clients and our team.
A Day In The Life Of The Successful Candidate
- Assist with new construction and retrofit construction commissioning projects, including functional testing and creating deliverables.
- Develop plans for on-site testing.
- Conduct analysis to support on-site work.
- Review drawings and specifications across multiple projects to ensure that the client's intent is met during the design phase.
- Review product data submittals across multiple projects to ensure that the equipment ordered aligns with the specified equipment.
- Write reports that summarize the key findings of our work for external audiences.
- Interface with project managers, subcontractors, and members of the design and construction teams for clarification and feedback.
- Contribute to business development, including speaking events, proposal development and project interviews.
During a Day In The Field, You Might
Attend a commissioning coordination meeting with the client or client's representative, design team, and key contractors.Spend a day with a contractor to test and explore the systems they installed, proactively asking thoughtful questions to identify and resolve issues and documenting outstanding issues.Witness and report on the startup of a new system on the client's behalf to troubleshoot as needed.Spend a day on the roof or climbing ladders to access and assess equipment in difficult-to-reach spaces.Adjust your communication style to effectively interface with a wide range of construction team members, sometimes about sensitive issues.Travel overnight to client locations.You'll work in a place that encourages you to :

Associates, bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent military experience, in a technical field such as engineering or related field.Minimum of 5 years of work experience in commissioning new construction or retrofit projects, or building automation system engineering.Possess an ANSI Accredited commissioning certification through ASHRAE, BCA or ACG, or have the desire to earn one.Demonstrated experience with analysis of trended field data and / or statistical analysis.Demonstrated excellence in communication (written and oral) and organizational skills.Moderate to advanced skills in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.Additional skill sets that would be a plus include Bluebeam, Visio, and programming skills in VBA, or other relevant analysis languages and tools.Demonstrated success in troubleshooting technical issues with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.Curiosity to learn and explore security, life safety, communication and building envelope systems.Pass NCIC background checks, or other background checks, as required by our clients.Pass an initial drug test and subsequent random drug tests required by our clients.Hold a valid driver's license and provide your own mode of transportation.We value teammates who are committed to the CEG team and adaptable to potential shifts in the specifics of their role.
