The Maintenance Planner Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and coordination of all maintenance activities within the facility. This includes both scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled corrective work orders. The role ensures that maintenance resources, materials, and priorities are effectively managed to minimize downtime and support operational goals.
In addition, this position leads the development and execution of weekly maintenance plans, project schedules, and reliability-centered maintenance initiatives. The Maintenance Planner Supervisor collaborates closely with cross-functional teams-including Operations, Engineering, and Safety-to align maintenance activities with company objectives, improve equipment reliability, and enhance overall plant performance.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with cross-functional departments to review weekly production schedules and generate maintenance schedules that align with operational and production requirements.
- Coordinates and schedules contractor(s) for equipment repairs, rebuilds, and project work.
- Maintains accurate electronic and hard-copy records of completed maintenance activities within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Directs the Stock Room Administrator and Purchasing Specialist to ensure materials, tools, and spare parts are available as needed to support maintenance activities.
- Oversees and manages the maintenance work order backlog to ensure timely execution and prioritization of critical tasks.
- Develops, updates, and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Maintenance Department.
- Partners with the Maintenance Administrative Assistant to provide required reports and updates to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager.
- Collaborates with the Director of Engineering on major projects, ensuring alignment with company goals and standards.
- Ensures that plant facilities are maintained in compliance with all applicable regulations, company policies, and safety and quality standards.
- Prepares cost estimates for personnel, parts, and supplies required for scheduled maintenance activities and planned shutdowns.
- Assists with preparing bids for major equipment purchases and recommends replacement or new equipment when necessary.
- Represents the company in dealings with external contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants, ensuring company interests are maintained.
- Stays current on emerging manufacturing technologies, systems, and engineering practices to drive continuous improvement in plant reliability and performance.
- Serves as a backup Maintenance Supervisor when needed, providing direct support on the production line to ensure minimal downtime and continuity of operations.
- Supports and upholds company policies related to food safety, legality, and quality. Ensures the work area remains clean, organized, and compliant with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Immediately reports any potential contamination, equipment malfunction, or suspicious activity to a supervisor.

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level
Education :
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred.Experience :
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.Proven ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance activities in a fast-paced, production-driven setting.Technical Knowledge :
Demonstrated proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking and scheduling maintenance activities.Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance techniques, reliability principles, and safety management systems.Working knowledge of FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation procedures, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).Familiarity with OSHA standards, product quality systems, and cost control processes in a manufacturing environment.Mathematical Skills :
