Overview
SOCIAL WORK / COUNSELOR II - Substance Use Disorder - Sterling. This position provides substance use disorder services to the inmate population, including formal and informal behavioral health evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and clinical interventions at the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) facility in Sterling.
Responsibilities
- Provide substance use and co-occurring disorder treatment services under clinical supervision.
- Collaborate with other mental health professionals to address co-occurring issues.
- Serve as a consultant for unit staff regarding assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Monitor inmate treatment and documentation to ensure standards compliance and continuity of care.
- Ensure accurate information system behavioral health needs levels and provide group, brief, and individual treatment.
- Provide clinical direction to non-clinical staff in behavioral health care and inmate treatment.
- Maintain continuity of care by making referrals and providing necessary information for receiving units, facilities, or agencies.
- Provide crisis intervention in line with clinical standards and professional privilege.
- Document in handwritten and electronic systems to maintain comprehensive inmate behavioral health records.
- Communicate with inmates regarding behavioral health care, counseling, and treatment expectations.
- Coordinate with staff and outside agencies to ensure continuity of care and address complaints, transfers, and classifications.
- Maintain program standards and promote safety and security within the clinical and correctional environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Certification as a Certified Addiction Specialist (CAT) and a license as one of the following : Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (CSW), or Licensed Psychologist (PSY).Current Colorado license as Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) or Addiction Counselor Candidate (ADDC) is required or equivalent licensure as specified.Preferred Qualifications
Experience providing addiction treatment to incarcerated and diverse populations.Experience with multidimensional substance use assessments and counseling in inpatient and outpatient settings.Additional Requirements
Must be 21 years of age, possess a valid Colorado driver's license, and meet the Department of Corrections physical and training requirements (including Defensive Tactics and TB screening).Ability to work rotating shifts and travel as necessary; willing to work with inmates under stress and in potentially violent situations.Eligibility to work in the United States and ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening.Important Information
