We are looking for a skilled attorney to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia, on a long-term contract basis. This role involves providing legal counsel and support to various departments, including public works, purchasing, and real estate, while managing contracts and resolutions for the Board of Commissioners. The position requires daily onsite engagement to ensure seamless operations and compliance.
Responsibilities :
- Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, leases, and resolutions, ensuring accuracy and alignment with legal standards.
- Provide legal counsel and advice to departments such as public works, facilities, purchasing, and land bank on operational and legislative matters.
- Negotiate and manage real estate agreements, including leases and right-of-access deals, in collaboration with developers and stakeholders.
- Prepare briefing memos and legal documentation to be presented to the Board of Commissioners on a weekly basis.
- Process contracts and other legal items through internal systems, including DocuSign, to maintain compliance and transparency.
- Collaborate with government departments to address legal and operational needs effectively.
- Engage in daily onsite meetings and communications with clients to address legal concerns and ensure smooth workflows.
- Assist in drafting and reviewing legislation requests related to public works and real estate matters.
- Ensure all legal documents are processed and finalized in a timely manner to meet organizational goals.
- Active membership with the Georgia Bar is preferred but flexibility is available for the right candidate.
- Proven experience in drafting and reviewing contracts, leases, and other legal documents.
- Familiarity with government operations and departments, including real estate and asset management.
- Strong negotiation skills, particularly in real estate agreements and developer interactions.
- Proficiency in using systems such as DocuSign for contract processing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for briefing memos and client engagement.
- Ability to work onsite daily with potential flexibility for occasional remote work.
- Prior experience in providing legal advice to government or public sector organizations is highly desirable.
