Position Overview

This position is a hands-on position which prepares surfaces for painting. This position not only supports the Industrial Painter but also does handles material in preparation for painting / machining and or welding. Regularly uses hand tools and prep tools for all material.

Primary Duties

• Prepares surfaces for painting by removing old paint using paint removers, scrapers, wire brushes or blowtorches.
• Primes surfaces as necessary.
• Maintains safe and secure work environment and observes company safety procedures.
• Assists in maintaining facility cleanliness and organization
• Works under immediate supervision.
• Will be assisting fabrication department manager occasionally on machining.

Knowledge

Education / Experience

High school diploma or equivalent job experience

Working Conditions :

Work is performed in a fabrication and distribution center. The work environment can be distracting due to noise and moving equipment in operation. The work place is noisy and dusty. Workplace is subject to climate changes.

Effort :

Must be able to see, walk, hear, and speak. Intermittent sitting, standing, climbing, stooping, and bending. Must have excellent sense of balance. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatebly.

Machines, Tools, Equipment :

Computer, printer, telephone, two-way radio, fax, welders, portable and stationary saws, assortment of power tools, overhead crane, forklift, pallet jack.
