The Pierce County Auditor's Office is seeking to fill a Recording and Licensing Technician 3 position in its Recording Division. In this lead position, you will play a valuable role in ensuring the quality of customer service and employee engagement. Additionally, you will act as a liaison between management, front-line staff, and the public.
The mission of the Pierce County Auditor's Office is to provide the tools and resources people need so they can turn around and impact their community. We conduct secure and trustworthy elections, we maintain the integrity and accessibility of public records, and we provide reliable licensing and passport services. We also provide administrative direction and support for the Pierce County Opioid Abatement Council. We are a team that promotes trust through positivity, change, innovation, and kindness.
Recording. The Recording Division receives, indexes, and records public documents such as deeds, maps, mortgage materials, easements, powers of attorney, liens, and military discharge papers. We process anywhere from 100,000 to 200,000 public documents each year, depending on market conditions. We collect excise tax payments on the sale of real property.
Licensing. The Licensing Division provides auto and boat title services such as tab renewals, trip permits, license plate replacement, and more. Want to get married in Pierce County? That's us. Need a pet license in unincorporated Pierce County? That's us, too. We manage licensing for certain businesses in unincorporated Pierce County, and we staff a full-time, full-service passport office.
We are looking for a passionate, collaborative, and creative service delivery technician. You will be a strategic thinker who is experienced in managing customer service delivery in all its forms : in-person, on the phone, over email, and through the mail. You will build rapport with your team and work closely with your supervisor(s) in the unit. You will also complete tasks efficiently in a busy environment, adapt quickly to different communication styles, acquire a broad understanding of office policies and processes, and meet required accuracy percentages and deadlines consistently.
This position is part of the Recording and Licensing Technician series. You will have the opportunity to plan, assign, organize, and direct work unit activities in a lead worker role. Core daily responsibilities include performing lead functions such as setting priorities; distributing and checking work; devising and evaluating office procedures and implementing changes subject to approval of supervisor; providing technical assistance as needed; resolving minor work and personnel problems. Determine work schedules and methods of expediting workflow. Ensure effective communication with county departments, sub-agencies, federal and state agencies, and staff. Facilitate and ensure adherence to policies and procedures. Ensure consistent interpretation of laws, rules, policies, and procedures. Provide back-up support for supervisor(s). Provide technical assistance to subordinates in answering questions and resolving problems related to processing legal documents.
Additional education or experience which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position may substitute on a year for year basis. Four years of clerical or customer service experience, that includes two years with cashiering experience and six months of lead experience. Additional Licensing Unit requirement : Certified Vehicle Licensing Representative. Please attach a current resume and cover letter with your application. Recording Unit : Experience performing in a Recording unit and / or clerical experience in real estate, banking, excise tax collection, or loan processing.
