Donor Experience Officer

The Donor Experience Officer is responsible for the development, planning, implementation, and oversight of designated CDC Foundation Advancement in-person and virtual events, programs and meetings to grow and cultivate the Foundation’s donor and volunteer base.

This position works closely with members of the Advancement department and external committee members to ensure that all events are delivered on time, within budget, and at the desired level of quality.

The Donor Experience Officer reports to the Associate Vice President for Advancement and works synergistically and strategically with CDC Foundation and CDC colleagues, donors and volunteers.

This position has a contract end date of June 30, 2026 and will be hybrid reporting to the Atlanta, GA headquarters office.

Qualifications and Necessary Skills

  • BA / BS in a related field
  • Minimum three to five years of relevant fundraising and / or events management experience
  • Excellent event project management skills
  • Self-starter with drive and consummate tact, discretion and professionalism
  • Excellent organizational planning and interpersonal skills
  • Exemplary attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively and to develop and drive a plan forward
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in sensitive, complex, and / or controversial situations
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Self-reliant, highly motivated, and positive attitude
  • Ability to work both independently and on collaborative teams; passion for working cross-functionally to accomplish shared objectives
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and databases, ideally Salesforce
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and meet relevant deadlines
  • Willing and able to work evenings and occasional weekends as required for events
  • Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license or can obtain a valid Georgia driver's license

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy and production of in-person and virtual events and meetings for the Advancement team throughout the year, from concept to planning and execution
  • Manage assigned Advancement event and meeting preparation and logistics, including detailed proposals and project plans (, timelines, venues, suppliers, audio visual needs, legal obligations, staffing and budgets), agendas, presentation materials and executive briefing books, and other associated tasks
  • Develop and coordinate special donor meetings and functions (, fundraisers at board members’ homes, donor dinners, donor site visits, corporate receptions, etc.)
  • Work with CDC Foundation advisory councils to help cultivate growth, fundraising capacity and activities
  • Create a national strategic event plan to grow donor relationships and revenue, in collaboration with members of the Advancement team
  • Manage special projects to honor existing donors and board members
  • Actively use company systems to manage invitation lists and project implementation, , Salesforce, Classy, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Oversee event registration including responding to attendee’s questions, making registration changes as needed and providing updates to team members and clients
  • Update event / meeting reports on a monthly / weekly / daily basis, as progress and plans develop
  • Manage Advancement event communications materials save-the-dates, invitations, collateral, hand-outs, follow-ups, etc.

  • Develop and implement event briefings for senior staff in a timely manner, in collaboration with Director of Major Gifts and Individual Support
  • Manage outreach and presentations for the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)
  • Manage award ceremonies, lectures and other events in support of the CDC Foundation’s named and endowed funds
  • Create and document procedures for all major processes
  • Prepare timely thank-you notes to speakers, sponsors, and key volunteers after events
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and debriefs to determine how future events can be improved
  • Other duties as assigned
