Job Summary
The Otolaryngology ambulatory clinics are high volume and focus on a variety of specialty otolaryngological diagnoses.
This position is a clinical role therefor no call, weekends, nights or holiday coverage is required.
The Department of Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery offers a broad scope of outpatient and inpatient services for the management of ear, nose, and throat diagnosis.
Specialty programs within the department include otology / neurotology, the Balance and Falls Center, the Cochlear Implantation program, head and neck surgery, rhinology and endoscopic sinus surgery, endocrine (thyroid / parathyroid) surgery, minimally invasive skull base surgery, facial plastic surgery, laryngology, pediatric otolaryngology, general otolaryngology, sleep apnea surgery, voice and swallowing disorders, sialendoscopy and audiology.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.
For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $95.69 - $124.10 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description
Additional practice locations include : Mission Bay Otolaryngology - 1825 4th St, San Francisco, CA 94158, Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland Pediatric Otolaryngology 744 52nd St, Oakland, CA 94609, the Voice and Swallowing Center 2330 post St, Facial Plastics Surgery 2320 Sutter St, Berkeley Outpatient Center 3100 San Pablo Ave, Redwood Shores clinic 1100 Park Pl, Pediatric Otolaryngology Clinic 1825 4th Street and Marin;
and Bayfront site 520 Illinois Street.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of independent practice experience.
- Experience performing simple procedures independently.
- Experience working in a surgical specialty as a NP.
- Demonstrated excellence in the following areas : clinical practice, communication, clinical case management, and problem identification / resolution.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, professional attitude, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse professional and patient population.
- Ability to satisfactorily perform duties as defined in the job duties / functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a surgical specialty as a NP in an otolaryngology practice.
- Prior work experience in an academic medical center.
- Evidence of professional development through certification, conference attendance, post-graduate education, teaching duties, etc.
License / Certification
- California Driver's license (CDL) if required for position.
- Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work
- Accepted Certifications for this position : FPN-C or FNP-BC Link to UCSF NP Certification Table for reference :
- Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
- Complete a BRN recognized graduate master's degree program as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Obtain an active and / or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice.
It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- Current AHA BLS.
- State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
- Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day.
Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
