Intracoastal Surgery Center was designed with the goal of providing the best experience for patients and their loved ones.

The facility has two large operating rooms that are equipped with the latest in advanced surgical technology. It also has one procedure room specifically created to provide the highly trained medical staff with the flexibility and tools needed for minimally invasive surgery.

Intracoastal Surgery Center is a Florida state licensed out patient surgical facility established in 2018. We are conveniently located in Brevard County.

SUMMARY :

The surgical technologist’s primary function is to provide direct assistance to the surgeon during surgical procedures. The surgical technologist also provides for the sterilization of instruments and supplies needed in the OR suite.

The position is under the overall supervision of the Administrator / Director of Nursing and works under the direct supervision of the circulating nurse.

The position responsibilities deal mainly with the sterility of instruments and supplies and the practice of aseptic technique in the OR.

POSITION DUTIES Patient Care : Provides safe patient care to the operative patient by being able to effectively assist the surgeon during surgical procedures.

Aseptic Technique : Maintains sterile technique in the OR during surgical procedures and when processing instruments and suppliesCommunication : Effectively communicates with all members of the OR teamInventory Control : Provides for the safe packaging of sterile supplies in adequate numbers to meet the needs of the surgery schedule.

Restocks sterile room while observing proper ordering and storing of suppliesDemonstrates knowledge of the principles and practices of aseptic techniqueAssumes responsibilities according to the operating room to which assignedScrubs for surgical procedures as assignedCommunicates to the circulating nurse any problems that arise during the surgical procedureDemonstrates knowledge of equipment, instruments, supplies, and proceduresAssists with the cleaning of the operating room before and after surgical proceduresResponsible for cleaning, maintaining, and sterilizing instruments as assignedOperates sterilizers as assigned and provides quality control documentationRestocks sterile room and sink areas in hallwayParticipates in orientation of new scrub technicians and helps to cross-train other scrub technicians in their own area of expertiseContributes to the Quality Improvement Program as necessaryParticipates in team meetingsInitiates sponge and sharp counts as necessaryPerforms other duties as needed to ensure the safety and comfort of all patients as well as the efficient operation of the facility

Required Skills :

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of a recognized and accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
• Prior Experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
• Current Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
