Journeyman Plumber

Location : Chicago, IL

Shift : Sunday - Thursday 6 : 00 a.m.- 2 : 00 p.m

We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Plumber with a comprehensive understanding of plumbing systems including domestic water and related devices, sanitary waste systems, and high and low-pressure steam systems.

The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently troubleshoot and perform maintenance and construction tasks.

As a Journeyman Plumber, you will adhere to JLL policies and procedures as well as the Rush mission, vision, and values in accordance with Rush Policy and Procedures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities :

• Repairing and installing various types of plumbing pipes and devices in compliance with the plumbing code.
• Proficiency in rodding all types of waste and drain lines, as well as repairing kitchen equipment.
• Installing new and used equipment including faucets, lavatories, toilets, flush valves, sinks, drinking fountains, and domestic water heaters (either steam, electric, or gas-fired).
• Installing, repairing, and adjusting various types and styles of steam stations.
• Operating appropriate construction tools and equipment.
• Cutting, flanging, and threading different pipe types, such as stainless steel, PVC, galvanized, black, and copper.
• Sweat soldering copper pipe and fittings using soft solder.
• Applying various types and sizes of fittings and valves to construct anti-siphon devices, medical air systems, and repair room med gas outlets.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Knowledge :

• Familiarity with high and low-pressure steam systems.
• Understanding of building plumbing systems.
• Knowledge of pumping and fire system protection systems.
• Familiarity with all types of pumps.
• Proficiency in using computer maintenance systems and associated devices, such as tablets.
• Understanding of medical gas systems and maintenance.

Skills :

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, service manuals, and instructions to complete work assignments.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations applicable to the trade.

Abilities :

• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Physical strength and dexterity to perform job assignments.
• Ability to lift objects and devices weighing between 20-50 lbs.
