Shift : Days, Varies Between 7 : 00am - 5 : 30pm

PATIENT POPULATION :
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY :
Under direction and supervision of an Endoscopy Nurse, the Non-Certified Endoscopy Technician is continuously responsible for assisting in the care of patients in assigned area;
is directly responsible for specific technical duties and the care of the Endoscopic equipment and Endoscopes. Assists with performing Endoscopy procedures in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible.
Must be able to work normal / scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call.
Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be a high school graduate, or equivalent. Six (6) months hands-on patient care required to be hired into a full-time position.
Two (2) years of hands-on patient care required to be hired into a per diem position.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions :
- Indicates Essential Function
- Assists in room preparation and case set-up for each procedure, providing the necessary equipment. Particular attention to completeness of set-up required using the physician preferences.
- General Responsibilities :
a. Reads surgeon's preference card prior to procedure.
b. Gathers all instruments and supplies for procedure, sterilizing / high level disinfection of instruments in appropriate manner and setting up cases in timely manner.
c. Gowns and gloves surgeon, when applicable.
d. Assists physician with procedure, maintaining constant vigilance for patient safety and comfort.
e. Accounts for all sharps, and instruments during procedure.
f. Is responsible for proper handling of specimens.
g. Helps move patient, as needed.
h. Helps clean and prepare for next patient.
- Responsible for cleaning and reassembling of Endoscopes, equipment and automatic Endoscope processor.
- Be in attendance on site and arrive to work on time.
