A Senior Industrial Designer will lead in pre-assigning the required spacing to the engineering disciplines and tracks the usage, pre-assigns tool POCs, defines routing of systems and subsystems in the areas.
Space Management task is essential for the coordination in common areas, where no identified system user / owner leads the coordination effort and is a team effort and a mandatory activity within our engineering and construction projects throughout the globe.
Explore your tasks and responsibilities
- Identifies the main functional facility routes and the preliminary required space (plan and elevation) for main headers, sub-mains and laterals for process utility systems and their common distribution areas
- Provides initial facility space requirements for functional layouts and building height identification in collaboration with the Project Discipline Leads
- Prepares typical sections of common areas for initial planning purposes and identify limitations concerning critical services such as process gravity drains, low-point concerns, maintenance areas and clearances, etc.
- Provides initial space requirements for common pipe racks and supports, also considering structural and seismic requirements
- Coordinates all utility routes with each other, with support systems, with the fixed building structure and between disciplines;
i.e. be the discipline and client POC regarding space management decisions and monitor alignment to the SM plan and work closely with BIM coordinators to drive routing conflicts to resolution
Directly responsible for correctness, completeness and schedule of all LSP’s within assigned functional area(s) and able to manage individual tool budgets and schedules.
Attend weekly All-WGL meeting and raise any issues related to client’s requirements
- Ensures tool White Book includes completed meeting sign-off sheets, checklists, meeting notes, Difference Forms (approved by Tool Owner), design package submittals and all relevant correspondence
- Ensures all AR’s are tracked, dispositioned, closed, and logged prior to package release. In addition, ensure QA / QC is performed;
forms / checklists are completed and included in White Book for each tool
- Supports Design Manager and / or Project Manager to resolve technical issues from construction by providing responses to design RFI’s and all field verification and associated checklists are completed
- Coordinates and answers questions regarding building and lateral layouts in multiple buildings; tool install schematics across all functional areas;
between Client, design and construction firms; coordinates between Pre-assignments, LOD / BB and supports design questions regarding process / mechanical, FIOP, Telecom, VPMS, LSS and PSSS

- 8+ years of experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate’s degree with technical focus preferred
- Must have the capability to manage, coach and counsel a team of facility management professionals in the performance of their duties and identified goals and objectives including remote team
- Have broad technical knowledge, with hands-on experience coordinating various systems in established and new construction environments;
i.e. tool install field and construction space management
- Must be a strong team player with an ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, department leads, and client representatives
- Energetic, self-motivated thinker with an enquiring mind and a commercial approach
- Ability to multi-task and maintain progress on multiple projects and processes
- Ability to learn quickly, keep abreast of changing developments, and work in a cost effective, customer focused, team based environment
- Good communicator (written and verbal), with high quality report writing skills
