Summary : The Coordinator, Oral Health Outreach (OHOC) aims to increase access to dental care for children and adolescents.
The OHOC will work closely with public schools, day care centers, youth-serving organizations, and the Women-Infants-Children (WIC) program to increase Tapestry 360 Health (Tap360) pediatric oral health services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Coordinates oral health education and outreach to schools and community organizations to increase dental practice referrals.
- Coordinates with school officials to contact and schedule appointments for Chicago Public Schools' students with urgent dental needs
- Continually assesses oral health needs for youth in identified communities; maintains records on outreach and educational activities
- Participates in quality initiatives to foster standardization and integration of dental services and scheduling.
- Works with dental teams to complete follow-up for patients with outstanding treatment plans and performs reminder calls as necessary to dental patients
- Escorts students from class to dental clinic when necessary.
- Maintains current knowledge of oral health as well as different type of dental benefits and insurances.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of two years of experience working in health education, schools, community health or community organizing.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is required.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook required.
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity to work in a low income, and racially and / or ethnically diverse environments preferred.
- Highly energetic, motivated, resourceful, and self-directed.
- Ability to work a varied schedule with rotating hours and travel locally.
