Manages the administration functions of undergraduate, graduate, or continuing medical education program in Aurora Academic Affairs.
Supports the Academic Affairs and Medical Education leadership and faculty in maintaining the excellence of medical education experiences and in promoting a learning culture throughout the organization.
In conjunction with Aurora Academic Affairs leadership team, ensures that Aurora medical education programs function in accordance with the goals and objectives of the organization and of the medical education accrediting bodies.
Major Responsibilities :
Manages the administrative functions of undergraduate, graduate or continuing medical education programs within Aurora Health Care.
Develops, implements and monitors the medical education program functions including participating in contract development per program requirements, maintaining licensure, creating student, resident / fellow or faculty schedules, and planning program and social events.
Develops, implements and manages staffing levels, policies, procedures, infrastructure and information support systems to effectively support all medical education programs and activities.
In conjunction with physician leadership, coordinates and leads assigned medical education committee meetings.
- Collaborates with the Academic Affairs leadership team in participating in the short and long range planning for graduate medical education and across the continuum of medical education programs at Aurora Health Care.
- Coordinates, implements, and maintains new and supported medical education programs, ensuring they meet or exceed the goals, standards and contractual arrangements of Aurora Health Care medical education and accreditation requirements.
In conjunction with Academic Affairs leadership, monitors criteria of the accreditation bodies used in its review processes for general and special essentials of its programs, including development and administration of the surveys participated in.
Functions as a liaison between Aurora Health Care medical education, medical group clinic leadership, Aurora Academic Affairs and external education partners.
In conjunction with leadership, initiates and directs collaborative opportunities with partners in both the internal and external academic and health care system communities.
Identifies problems and priorities, and leads determination of innovative solutions. Convenes thought leaders and constituents to resolve issues related to medical education.
Assists in the identification of faculty development needs and assists in the implementation of initiatives to meet these needs.
Collaborates with Academic Affairs leadership and Medical Education Program Director to implement curricula and evaluation tools, including use of simulation, web-based and handheld technologies.
- In collaboration with Academic Affairs leadership, provides support and information to finance and other department to successfully complete reports.
- Collaborates with key leadership and other employees, accrediting bodies, vendors, partners, contractors, and independent physicians to identify, research, investigate and resolve compliance issues.
Serves as internal expert and advisor in compliance matters related to regulations and medical education accreditation standards related to vendor relationships.
- Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
- Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.
Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
None Required.
Education Required :
Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Administration or related field.
Experience Required :
Typically requires 5 years of experience in healthcare within an academic environment. Includes 1 year of supervisory experience in managing staff, and monitoring the budget and resources.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
- Skills and experience in developing and executing policies, procedures and practices within a health care system or academic setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of effective best practices and national trends in medical education operations and guidelines.
- Demonstrates knowledge of federal and state laws including Stark and the Anti-Kickback Statute as it relates to medical education.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills in developing and managing a budget.
- Skills and experience in establishing excellent working relationships with various leadership teams to determine and accomplish shared goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with employees and leadership.
- Must have highly developed decision-making, organizational, and interpersonal proficiency including relationship development and management of internal and external relationships.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite or similar products.
