Job Summary :
The Cath Lab Technician is responsible for assisting in diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
This role involves preparing and operating specialized equipment, monitoring patients during procedures, and ensuring a safe environment by adhering to all safety protocols.
The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well in a team under high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare patients and the procedure room for diagnostic and interventional procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are ready.
- Assist physicians during procedures, including cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, and stent placements.
- Operate imaging equipment and ensure accurate capture of images for diagnostic purposes.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs during procedures and immediately report any changes or abnormalities to the healthcare team.
- Maintain and troubleshoot cath lab equipment, ensuring it is functioning properly before, during, and after procedures.
- Follow all infection control protocols, including sterile technique, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Document patient information, procedure details, and any other relevant data accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide patient care by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and offering post-procedure instructions under the guidance of medical staff.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to continuously improve workflow and patient care in the cath lab.
Qualifications :
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, or a related field.
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Cath Lab or related clinical setting.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, hemodynamics, and sterile techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
Work Environment :
- Fast-paced clinical environment with potential exposure to radiation and infectious materials.
- Requires standing for long periods and the ability to lift or move patients and equipment as needed.
