Responsibilities and activities for this position include the following :
Perform test set-up, sample preparation and data collection in accordance with test standards. Perform preliminary data analysis and create Keynote slides with initial
conclusions, where appropriate.
Manage, calibrate and maintain operating procedures for test equipment.
Collect data on materials in our library and input into our organization’s database for use by materials and mechanical engineering.
Conduct data entry / transfer from TDS sheets into database, where possible.
Fabricate fixtures and equipment as needed. Write programming scripts when necessary.
Assist with lab maintenance and equipment upkeep on occasion.
Key Qualifications :
Experience laboratory testing and measurement equipment, such as load frames ( Instron), calipers, or microscopes, as well as sample preparation for similar testing
Strong drive and passion to provide accurate data with attention to detail, and ability to execute sometimes very-repetitive manual test procedures
Hands-on experience with analytical chemistry tools (FTIR, DSC, TGA, DMA, TMA) is a plus
Proficient in using Excel, Keynote and basic word processing
Comfort working both independently and collaboratively on tight deadlines in a supportive environment
Ability to juggle multiple projects for several customers in a given week
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Education and Experience :
Associates or higher degree in chemistry, physics, engineering or related scientific / technical field
Minimum of years of lab experience required.
