We have an exciting opportunity for a Controls Engineer in Orlando, FL. This position is responsible for managing controls engineering project requirements, including control system design, DCS / PLC programming, control panel design, instrumentation, check-out support, and start-up assistance.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work in a multi-disciplined environment and effectively communicate with engineers, designers, and drafters.

Skills

  • Proficiency in DCS / PLC control system design and programming (i.e., DeltaV, Experion, 800xA)
  • Experience with instrumentation and controls / PLC system design (i.e., Allen Bradley, Modicon, Siemens)
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Ability to perform system design calculations and analysis
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office environments

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement DCS / PLC control systems to meet process requirements
  • Develop documentation including Theory / Description of operation and detailed control system design
  • Conduct system design calculations and analyses
  • Interface with facility design to optimize panel location and maintenance
  • Assist with start-up and debugging of integrated systems
  • Act as a technical lead on projects, guiding lower-level engineers and technicians
  • Manage smaller projects, ensuring deadlines and project scope are met

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering (related experience may substitute for degree)
  • 5+ years of experience in Ethernet-based control systems, safety systems, and DCS programming preferred
  • Experience with instrumentation and controls / PLC system design required
  • Previous experience with AutoCAD desired
  • Knowledge of contract documents, specifications, and system design functions
