REQUIREMENTS :
Five (5) or more years of professional work experience in the area of financial examination, auditing, compliance, and / or regulatory oversight within the financial services industry.
A postsecondary degree from an accredited college / university with a major course of study in economics, finance, business or accounting may be used as an alternative for the required years of experience on a year-for-year basis.
Three (3) or more years of professional work experience directly supervising, organizing, directing, and evaluating subordinate employees.
PREFERENCES :
- Three (3) or more years of professional experience working in risk assessment, compliance, or business operations within the financial services industry.
- Extensive leadership and / or supervisory experience in the financial services industry.
- Detailed working knowledge of laws and rules governing financial institutions.
- Experience with administrative regulatory compliance.
The anticipated annual salary for this position is $134,935.08.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Ability to effectively utilize agency hardware and software programs including proficient utilization of the OFR REAL (Regulatory and Enforcement Licensing) system.
This position must comply with regulations regarding Criminal Justice Information (CJI).
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES :
Supervises direct reports including motivating, training, providing guidance and direction. Develops expectations and meets with staff regularly to discuss performance, completes performance reviews and disciplinary action if needed.
Monitors leave and attendance, maintains work schedules to ensure proper coverage and completes timesheets. Ensures all staff complete the required training and are offered additional training.
The Florida Office of Financial Regulation (OFR) provides regulatory oversight for Florida’s financial services industry.
The OFR reports to the Financial Services Commission made up of the Governor and the members of the Florida Cabinet. The OFR’s mission is to protect Florida’s financial services consumers, promote a safe and sound financial marketplace, and contribute to the growth of Florida’s economy through fair, innovative, and excellent regulation of the financial services industry.
The Division of Financial Institutions (the Division ) is primarily responsible for ensuring that each state-chartered institution meets state and federal requirements for safety and soundness.
The Division consists of the Bureau of Bank Regulation and Bureau of Credit Union Regulation. The Director provides oversight of all Division functions.
The Director is responsible for proactively seeking ways to further the OFR's mission and for anticipating and planning for future regulatory needs.
The Director manages the budget, personnel, and core regulatory functions of the Division, monitoring the quantity and quality of work, setting, and achieving goals in those areas.
The Director is also responsible for recommending needed regulatory changes and their implementation.
The Director supervises direct reports and is responsible for personnel management activities for those staff reporting directly to this position and for all employees in the incumbent’s chain of command.
The Director is responsible for recruitment and retention of qualified staff and staff development.
The Director serves as a representative of OFR at public meetings, before the Legislature, and serves as the agency liaison with other state and federal regulatory agencies and commissions.
