What we want
The Assistant Financial Manager performs highly complex accounting tasks and supervises the execution of all decisions and duties in the absence of the Financial Manager.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Six years of accounting experience in a business office.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to comprehend and apply rules and regulations in a complex environment.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Knowledge of higher education.
- Working knowledge of database programs. Knowledge of reconciliations. Familiarity with FAMIS, USAS and the TAMU environment.
Practical knowledge of governmental and higher education operations.
Essential Duties / Tasks
Unclaimed Property Reporting
- Prepare and mail Due Diligence Letters 60-90 days in advance of the report due date.
- Process incoming mail requests to claim unclaimed property by requesting replacement checks, verifying information is accurate and marking the checks paid in the Unclaimed Property software.
- Create, review, and submit required reports to all 50 states for five Texas A&M System members, following up on issues as they arise.
- Reports will be filed on or before the due date.
Supervision and Training of Student Interns
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates student interns and new hires.
- Designs and initiates training with a focus on process improvement.
- Leads team in researching and resolving accounting items that may cross between multiple individuals and departments.
- Spearheads the development of continuous process improvements by collaborating with the reconciliation team, as well as other departments across the Texas A&M University System.
- Implements and interprets process improvements and internal controls for reconciliations.
- Updates University Accounting Services Banking procedures.
Security Transfers between System Members
- Review for accuracy and follow up with requester to gather additional information as needed.
- Prepares and processes the ET form and all related journal entries
- ET request will be processed within 5 days.
Unclaimed Property Software Administrator
Upload files, maintain database and maintain updates to the software
DUNS Number Administration
Administer 3 DUNS numbers for TAMU
