Shop Supervisor
Peoria Production Shop is currently seeking a highly motivated first shift Supervisor to ensure the safe, efficient and effective operations of a growing business.
We are a diverse business with packaging, auto bag, light assembly, kitting, warehousing and various kinds of order fulfillment.
Supervisors are accountable for meeting production goals, following ISO guidelines to assure customer satisfaction and for leading an engaged workforce that ensures positive employee relations.
Continual improvement is expected through the management of the efficiency of manpower, material and machines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Schedules and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
- Provides leadership to a diverse workforce.
- Determines labor needs according to production.
- Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
- Completes annual performance appraisals.
- Answers questions and resolves any problems that arise with workers or production.
- Attends scheduled meetings with the management, office staff, other supervisors, and shop employees.
- Keeps in contact with customers and provides quality customer service.
- Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
- Issues reports / records such as evaluations, table efficiency reports, matter of record reports, ISO records, carton inventory reports, caution / warning / termination reports, and quality control inspection reports.
- Revises production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure and operating problems.
- Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
- Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery.
- Orders material and organizes parts.

Supervisory Responsibilities :
- Supervises up to 100 employees in a production facility. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of areas such as shipping / receiving, supervisors, line leaders, packagers, assemblers and other job classifications.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees;
planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple projects at a time
Education / Experience :
- 5+ years' experience as a supervisor in a production or warehouse facility.
- Associates degree in business or a related field
- History of supervising, training and evaluating a minimum of 20 workers.
- Experience with PLC and CNC programming of equipment
- Facilities management a plus
- Experience with implementing Lean Manufacturing practices
Language Skills :
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as business periodicals, technical procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence (e.g. email), and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Mathematical Skills :
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to use multiple data bases while using Excel to improve processes
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability :
- Ability to define and solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions either in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or form.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Knowledge Microsoft Office, with above average Excel skills
- Knowledge of production equipment and tools such as a forklift, electric hand or pallet jacks, automated baggers, electric tape machines, sewing machines, label printers, and cutting tools.
- Knowledge of packaging work orders and sales orders.
- Knowledge of human behavior and motivational factors affecting employee performance and self-esteem.
- Skill to work in a team oriented environment.
- Ability to use basic office equipment including printer, fax machine, and copy machine.
- Ability to adapt to ever changing priorities and / or situations.
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
- Ability to handle pressure of deadlines and stay patient while tasks are being performed.
Strength / Physical Demands :
- Regularly required to bend, stoop, or reach with hands and arms.
- Lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds with the occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, with infrequent lifting or carrying of small tools or objects.
Work Conditions :
- Must be willing to work hours necessary to complete tasks.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Clean modern workplace and climate controlled shop floor.
- Monday - Friday 7 : 00am - 3 : 30pm
