Packaging Lead plans, directs, coordinates, and controls activities of workers engaged in kitting parts or packaging units.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and provides input on packaging and kitting requirements needed to determine the total labor and gross margin for a customer's order
- Interfaces with other departments to ensure customer order deadlines are met
- Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment
- Creates detailed schedule time lines to ensure customer shipment dates and equipment specifications are met
- Develops a process plan including people, resources, equipment, and floor space for each customer order
- Plans flow of materials through department and develops physical layout of machines according to work orders
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew
- Coordinates manpower requirements by increasing or decreasing personnel and overtime to meet changing conditions
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
- Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations
- Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS ( Education, Experience, & Skills required)
Education - Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or two + years related experience and / or training;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Ability - Communicates changes and progress, responds to requests for service and assistance, balances team and individual responsibilities, strong supervision and personnel leadership skills.
Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Work Environment
This position operates in a warehouse environment, using standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier, and forklift equipment.

Frequently communicates with colleagues, co-workers, and customers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
