Part-time summer hours : Monday and Wednesday 12 : 30-4 : 30

Part-time school year hours : Hours vary between 2 : 00-5 : 00 Monday through Thursday

Our Organization : Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho (GSEWNI) is a non-profit dedicated to empowering girls through the Girl Scout four pillars : life skills, STEM, outdoors, and entrepreneurship! We cover a massive area of 29 counties that stretches over 67,000 square miles, spanning from Central and Eastern Washington to Northern Idaho.

Our headquarters is in Spokane, Washington, but we've got awesome staff in the Tri-Cities, Washington, and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

With the power of 2,000 amazing adult volunteers, we're on a mission to serve around 5,000 girls from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Girls are our heart and soul, and we're all about helping them become future leaders. Girl Scouts is THE go-to place for girl power, shaping strong leaders for a new era.

The Go Getters Outreach Tri-Cities is a grant-funded program breaking barriers in order to engage Latina Girls and ensure that every girl has the opportunity to be a Girl Scout.

POSITION SUMMARY :

As an Outreach Program Specialist, you’ll team up with the Outreach Program Coordinator to facilitate after-school troop meetings and deliver the magic of Girl Scouting to bilingual Outreach Girl Scout Troops in Pasco and Richland.

This position directly serves young girls in under-resourced communities, delivering the full Girl Scout experience to girls who may otherwise not have the opportunity to participate.

The Outreach Program Specialist fosters positive relationships with girls, families, staff, and community members.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION :

  • Use our engaging curriculum to lead girls through exciting activities that cover all things STEM, outdoors, life skills, and entrepreneurship.
  • Incorporate Girl Scout principles into each meeting with girls : Allow meetings to have elements of girl-led, hands-on, cooperative learning while providing guidance and supervision as needed.
  • Model teamwork and problem-solving while creating opportunities for girls to apply strategies themselves.
  • Work seamlessly with co-leaders and other GSEWNI staff.
  • Complete paperwork such as attendance, rosters, etc.
  • Communicate positively with parents and other community members about Girl Scouts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

  • Previous GSUSA experience, preferred.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Experience working in small and large group settings with children.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Available for evening work and occasional weekends.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations within city limits.
  • Ability to lead activities through Zoom meetings.
  • Willingness to subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout movement.

Physical Abilities : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to occasionally lift objects up to 30 pounds, and must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.

Mental & Other Skills / Abilities : To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the multi-tasking ability to handle many diverse tasks / projects at one time and prioritize them.

Work Environment : While performing the essential duties / responsibilities of this job, the employee is exposed to a school environment and typical office environment conditions.
