Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator

• 10+ years of DBA experience in RDMBS systems, Postgres required, Snowflake
• 5+ years of experience in NoSQL such as MongoDB, DynamoDB.

Postgres preferred.

Summary :

The Administrator, DBA Sr will be responsible for proactively administering all aspects with both Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and NoSQL systems, including but not limited Oracle, Postgres, MongoDB, Snowflake and Dynamo.

The position is comprised of working with the Enterprise Architect in understanding the architectural roadmaps that support and fulfill business strategy.

The DBA will need to stay informed of the ways the organization uses its data and provides designs that are scalable, robust, secure, and efficient database platforms.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :

• Ownership in installations, creation, management, monitoring, scaling and tuning RDMBS and NoSQL databases for various business units.
• Day to day management activities of production databases for online system operations including monitoring, troubleshooting, backup, restore, change management, and storage management.
• Responsible for Database Replay, Partitioning, Schema Management, Resiliency, Virtual columns, Making, and Security.
• Working knowledge in monitoring, optimization, configuration, troubleshooting, manage data replication, backups, partitioning, and storage management the database platforms.
• Run performance, management, and tuning tools.
• Participate in discussions and recommend new strategies for installation, upgrade, configuration, and patching of new and existing RDBMS and NoSQL platforms.
• Recommend new strategies and architectures for high availability, monitoring, database security, backup, and recovery for large scale databases.
• Strong knowledge with AWS RDBMS RDS platforms and EC2.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation to provide production support in a 24 / 7 environment.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

This position is an individual contributor with no direct reports but may provide guidance, leadership, or training to others.

Qualifications :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

• Strong Experience in development of stored procedures, packages, triggers, SQL queries, reports, and scripts.
• Expertise in Database Replay, Partitioning, Schema Management, Caching and Pooling, Resiliency, Masking, and Security.
• Hands on experience with various performance and tuning tools such as ASH, AWR, STATSPACK, EXPLAINS PLAN, SQL TRACE, TKPROF and ADDM reports.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting, performance tuning and SQL optimization.
• Ability to diagnose problems and resolve issues across various tiers (application, database, network, server, and storage)
• Strong Experience with data migration, data archiving and data access techniques.
• Must be able to write SQL and UNIX shell scripts with formatting to serve as evidence for the change management process.
• Evaluate new database technologies and products and recommend to technical management.
• Scripting language skills such as Perl, Python, and Bash is a strong plus.
• Strong verbal / written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.

Education and / or Experience :

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent is preferred.
• 10+ years of DBA experience in RDMBS systems, such as Oracle, Postgres, Snowflake
• 5+ years of experience in NoSQL such as MongoDB, DynamoDB.
