Job Summary
Performs manual work of ordinary difficulty in cleaning and maintaining School District buildings and immediate grounds.
Performs minor repairs on furniture and equipment, as well as uses power equipment to care for the grounds.
Essential Functions :
- Performs general housekeeping tasks in the cleaning and maintenance of offices, classrooms, cafeterias and laboratories, as well as the school yard and walkways.
- Sweeps, scrubs, mops, cleans and waxes floors of rooms, hallways, stairs and fire escapes; cleans and dusts walls, lockers and plumbing fixtures;
- washes walls as required; cleans tile and windowsills throughout the building; cleans auditorium and cafeteria; picks up broken glass and debris in the school yard;
sweeps and cleans shower rooms, water fountains, washes light fixtures, replaces bathroom supplies; replaces faucet washers, floors drains and flushometer components.
- May occasionally operate elevators, may tend steam boilers and hot water boilers as directed; may haul coal for fires during the winter months;
- cleans school shops; maintains fire fighting equipment; locks and unlocks doors and fire towers; may put up and take down flag;
- vacuums hallways; empties trashcans inside and outside building; may rehang and repair shades and make other minor repairs;
utilizes gas operated machinery to perform such duties as grass cutting and snow removal.
