Our client is an aerospace and automotive component manufacturer, generating over $70,000,000 in annual revenue. We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager that will have a clear, direct path to a controller opportunity
Position Overview :
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting functions, with a focus on cost accounting, month-end close, budgeting and financial reporting.
This position will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, supporting strategic business decisions, and optimizing financial processes.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cost accounting, general ledger management, and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage the full cycle of month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Oversee all aspects of cost accounting, including analyzing and tracking manufacturing costs, variances, and inventory.
- Maintain and monitor the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare and present financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
- Collaborate with operations teams to provide insights on cost-saving opportunities and improve financial performance.
- Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance on accounting best practices and professional development.
- Manage and ensure compliance with all relevant accounting regulations, including GAAP.
- Develop, implement, and enhance financial policies and procedures to streamline operations and ensure internal controls.
- Work closely with external auditors to support audit processes and ensure financial accuracy.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills to analyze financial data, create reports, and support decision-making.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on cost accounting and manufacturing.
- Strong experience with month-end close, general ledger management, and financial reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
- Familiarity with ERP systems, specifically those used in manufacturing environments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
