Description
The Community Health Promotion Specialist leads multiple public health initiatives in the community to affect policy, systems, and environmental change resulting in reduction of chronic disease and health inequities.
Duties
- Oversees all program activities, including subgrantee activities, ensuring fidelity of process and execution in all activities.
- Serves as the subject-matter-expert for all program-related and grant-related matters.
- Builds and fosters partnerships in the community in support of program mission and work.
- Collaborates with internal programs to advance agency priorities related to the program, its mission, and activities.
- Assists with program planning, implementation, and evaluation; works in collaboration with program evaluators in data collection and other evaluation-related activities.
- Completes all grant-related progress reports and documentation.
- Develops measurable objectives, conducts research, gathers, analyzes, and interprets data.
Emergency Preparedness and Response
Responds, as required, to support public health emergencies, incidents, and events. Employee participates in all exercises and drills on emergency preparedness and response, as required.
Completes trainings identified as appropriate for this level employee and initiates corrective actions and responses pursuant to Federal, State, and Local laws, statutes, and regulations.

Requirements
Education and Experience :
- Bachelors Degree in public health, community health education, epidemiology, nutrition, dietetics, or related field.
- 5+ years experience in health promotion or related field.
- Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job will be considered.

Pre-Employment Additional Requirements :
Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Work is generally confined to a standard office environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
- Spends 90% of the time sitting and 10% of the time either upright or walking.
- Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 20 lbs.
- Occasionally uses cart, dolly, or other equipment to carry in excess of 20 lbs.
- Occasionally climbs, stoops, kneels, balances, reaches, crawls and crouches while performing office or work duties.
- Verbal and auditory capacity enabling constant interpersonal communication through automated devices, such as telephones, radios, and similar;
