Job Description
Come work for an agency that works every day to make a difference for Utah's children. The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) Child Nutrition team is currently seeking a talented and energetic individual to fill a Child Nutrition Specialist, Community Programs position.
As the specialist, you will provide services utilizing a broad range of expertise and leadership in the development of plans, programs, and policies that assist child care, adult centers and other institutions to develop, implement and improve administration and operation of Child Nutrition programs that operate out of the Utah State Board of Education.
This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with up to 5 days a week remote work, after the completion of training and at the discretion of management.
Principal Duties
As a Child Nutrition Specialist :
- Understand, interpret and apply federal and state regulation, policy, rules and guidance.
- Evaluate, monitor and ensure agreement compliance between the Utah State Board of Education Child Nutrition Programs and assigned sponsors (child and adult care centers, at risk and summer programs).
- Conduct regulatory off-site and on-site Administrative Reviews (ARs) of sponsors operating the Child and Adult Care Food Program and ancillary programs administered by the Utah State Board of Education to determine compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Complete electronic review forms with a high level of detail and accuracy.
- Communicate daily with local sponsors through letters, email, phone calls, virtual conferences and in person visits providing technical assistance and ensuring compliance.
- Recognize and accurately address sponsors' needs while maintaining professionalism.
- Collect and review data from sponsors for Federal and State reports.
- Review and interpret revenue and expenditure documentation.
- Work both independently and collaboratively with team members to ensure program consistency in guiding sponsors on program requirements and in completing administrative reviews.
- On occasion, you may be asked to organize, facilitate and present at training workshops and conferences.
- Travel throughout the state of Utah, this includes overnight stays.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has :
- A Bachelor's degree in public health, accounting, business, foods and nutrition, dietetics, education or a related field.
- A minimum of one year of experience in Federal Child Nutrition Programs.
