Reports to Job Title : VP : Engineering
Summary of Position :
The project engineer designs and drafts food processing and packaging equipment, plant layouts, and parts; this position establishes budgets and timelines for capital projects and manages systems installations.
Functions Performed :
- Designs, redesigns, or modifies required areas and implements changes to resolve problems and improve equipment / systems performance and reliability.
- Prepares completed layouts for final equipment / system design from simple sketches and / or vendor supplied drawings for all company locations.
- Manages new equipment purchases by working closely with vendors to ensure equipment meets manufacturing requirements. Performs equipment Factory Acceptance Tests or other activities related to machine purchases.
- Works with other engineers, managers, and facility staff on design needs.
- Manages internal projects by supporting Maintenance and Fabrication Shop employees involved in new projects and retrofits / upgrades.
- Evaluates production equipment and related systems for optimization.
- Monitors project costs and prepares progress summaries for executive group.
Education, Experience, and Knowledge :
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field preferred.
- Five or more years' experience in engineering and project management.
- Knowledge in the food / nut industry highly preferred.
Certificates, Licenses. and Registrations :
AutoCAD certification
Skills and Competencies :
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of Solidworks.
- Microsoft Office Project, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to be on feet four hours-a-day and walk large facilities.
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to lift 30 pounds.
