Job Summary

As a Sterile IV Compounding Technician at AmeriPharma, you will be responsible for preparing and compounding intravenous medications under the supervision of infusion pharmacist to ensure the safe and accurate preparation of IV medications for patients.

Schedule Details

  • In-Person (Orange, CA).
  • Monday-Friday 8 : 00am-4 : 30pm

Duties and Responsibilities

Compounding IV medications : This involves measuring and mixing medications, sterile solutions, and additives

according to established protocols and guidelines. IV pharmacy technicians must follow aseptic techniques to

maintain a sterile environment during the compounding process

Labeling and packaging : IV pharmacy technicians are responsible for properly labeling and packaging the

compounded IV medications, ensuring that all necessary information, such as patient name, medication name,

dosage, and expiration date, is clearly indicated.

Inventory management : IV pharmacy technicians is responsible for monitoring and maintaining inventory levels

of IV medications, quantities, lot numbers accuracy, supplies, and equipment. This includes ordering, receiving,

and restocking medications as needed.

Quality control : IV pharmacy technicians must adhere to quality control standards and procedures to ensure the

accuracy, sterility, and safety of compounded IV medications. This may involve conducting product quality test,

regular inspections, performing equipment maintenance, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Environmental monitoring : IV pharmacy technicians participate in maintaining both environmental controls ( fill

out logs, sterilize compounding materials, daily / monthly cleaning), and personnel controls ( GFT, media fill,

surface sampling).

  • Cleanroom certification : IV pharmacy technicians participate in the certification procedure every 6 months.
  • Documentation and record-keeping : IV pharmacy technicians are responsible for accurately documenting all

activities related to the compounding and dispensing of IV medications. This includes maintaining patient

records, preparing reports, calibration reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor such as cross training.
  • IV technicians accurately enter prescription information into the pharmacys computer system, including

patient details, medication dosage, and instructions. Ensuring all data is entered correctly to facilitate

dispensing and record-keeping.

Scheduling : Manage patient refill schedules efficiently, maintaining an organized and up-to-date refill calendar

to ensure uninterrupted care.
