Gearbox-Motors Assembly Technician
Mobility is hiring numerous Motors / Gearbox Assembly Technicians to overhaul and rebuild locomotive gears. We are responsible for disassembling, cleaning, repairing and reassembling components according to drawings and guidelines to ensure product specifications and quality standards are met.
We inspect and adjust completed motors to ensure they meet specifications, tolerances, and customer order requirements. We have a training and development plan waiting for you!

Responsibilities
Attach gearbox housing and couplings to build stand.
Install gears, bearings and housings.
Measure for accurate clearances using calibrated instrument (depth gauge, caliper, micrometer, etc).
Install spacers and covers and various fasteners, plugs, and hardware
Demount gearbox from build stand.
Inspect, test (if applicable), and adjust completed units to ensure that units meet specifications, tolerances, and customer order requirements.
Assemble parts or units, and position, align, and fasten units to assemblies, subassemblies, or frames. Disassemble units to replace parts or to crate them for shipping.
Position, align, and adjust parts for accurate fit and assembly.
Attach name plates and mark identifying information on parts.
Measure parts to determine tolerances, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and verniers.
Inspect parts for surface defects.
Align, fit, or assemble component parts, using hand or power tools, fixtures, templates, or microscopes.
Verify part dimensions or clearances to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, bills of materials, or reports to determine materials requirements or assembly instructions.
Explain assembly procedures or techniques to other workers.
Clean working areas and parts, using cleaning solutions, air hoses, and cloths. Inventory tools.
Drill or tap holes in specified equipment locations.
Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan or review work activities or to resolve production problems.
Conduct 6S audits and safety walks.
Participate in work groups / projects in order to inform oneself and to provide information to the others and to optimize processes and workflows.

Knowledge

Requirements :
HS diploma or equivalent
Extensive experience with electromechanical assembly
Extensive Wiring experience
Direct assembly experience reading and interpreting schematic drawings
Ability to physically lift 35 pounds
Ability to communicate effectively in English (read, speak, write)
Ability to collaborate successfully in a team-oriented environment
Ability to learn and process information quickly and execute tasks successfully
Ability to work safely and to operate power tools and equipment in a safe manner
Preferences :
Extensive experience with electro mechanical assembly
Extensive Wiring experience
Must be able to read complex schematics
