Job Description

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. has multiple openings for an Environmental Scientist II to be based in Long Beach, CA.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Lead tasks at hazardous waste sites (O&G, industrial, and municipal) undergoing subsurface investigation and remediation of LNAPL, soil, and groundwater contamination.
  • Organize, plan, and execute tasks related to hazardous waste / remediation investigations.
  • Monitor and sample contaminated soil and groundwater.
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, including environmental construction and compliance work.
  • Model and analyze subsurface conditions.
  • Interface with and write reports for clients and regulatory agencies, specifically the Regional Water Quality Control Board.
  • Provide long term environmental consulting services on environmental assessment, subsurface investigation, and contamination clean up under permit requirements for large clients in oil and gas industry.
  • Set up work plans and protocols, supervise field activities, coordinate field personnel and related activities for the purpose of implementing technically sound project plans.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical & Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Chemistry, or related field, and 3 years of experience in the job offered or an environmental consulting -related occupation.

Position requires experience with :

  • Environmental field data collection, monitoring, and sampling;
  • Operations and maintenance of groundwater and soil vapor remediation systems;
  • Data organization, modeling, and analysis of subsurface conditions;
  • Subcontractor management and health and safety oversight;
  • Preparing technical reports for projects and clients;
  • Interfacing with regulatory agencies, and familiarity with their organization and permitting processes; and
  • Environmental health and safety programs with oil and gas, aerospace, city / county or chemical manufacturing clients.
