The Procurement and Planning Manager has the primary responsibility of directing and coordinating activities of personnel engaged in the strategic procurement and materials planning of raw materials and supplies involving multiple facilities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate buyers.
Responsible for procurement and planning involving multiple sites and working with both domestic and international suppliers.
Responsible for plant inventory number of raw materials. Responsible for leading activities related to Cost Improvement Projects.
This position will serve our Raypak division, located in Oxnard, CA.
- RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform in a leadership role for the discovery and implementation of state of the art global sourcing and risk management techniques in order to drive competitive advantage for the Company.
- Is responsible for ALL activities related to the purchase of materials and supplies according to approved requisition, either directly or through subordinate buyers.
- Negotiates or supervises the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepares instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
- Leads planning and scheduling team in activities related to production planning for finished good and service parts.
- Leads planning and procurement team in activities related to production scheduling such that the company meets its On-Time Delivery goals.
- Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares market analysis reports.
- Manage senior level relationships with key suppliers to ensure sourcing decisions and supplier performance is managed for the best interest of the Company and drive for Cost Improvement Project (CIP).
- Oversee Inventory management coordinating with sales S&OP, product planning, manufacturing and distribution.
- Work closely with sales to analyze order / shipment patterns and track economic, climate, and market trends.
- Coordinate with Sales S&OP and Finance to ensure we are adequately forecasting demand to include any marketing programs in place or forthcoming.
- Analyze industry trends, Division budget, distributor and Division inventory levels, and any other factors to determine significant correlation to monthly and annual forecasts.
- Provide direct supervision over Purchasing and Planning staff. Provide performance feedback, coaching and mentoring.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in the areas of Business Management, Supply Chain or related field with 10+ years of experience in procurement and planning.
- 5+ years of supervisor experience.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a matrix team environment.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Advanced mathematical skills including the ability to calculate discounts and percentages.
- Experience in Oracle MRP system preferred.
- Experience managing Demand Planning assignments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of inventory management theory and supply chain practices.
- Experience in leading the S&OP process for supply chain.
- Demonstrated experience leading ad-hoc project teams with proven results.
- Strong organizational and business analytical skills.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from Sr. Management.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
HOW TO STAND OUT
- Master’s Degree in the areas of Business Management, Supply Chain or related field.
- Certificate in Purchasing Management.
- APICS CPIM / CSCP Certified Professional.
- Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Lean Thinking.
Pay scale for this role based in California is : $100,900-$171,500. Please note all pay ranges are broadly stated and any final offer is dependent on factors such as location, direct experience, market guidance and internal equity, among other qualifying criteria.
