SUMMARY OF DUTIES :

Opportunity for a self-starter who enjoys working independently and being part of a valuable team that is fast-paced and streamlined to address business growth, daily business operations, and environmental issues.

Candidate will provide air quality and technical support to Kinder Morgan’s natural gas business unit, operations and engineering departments.

Ability to manage time and workload to complete projects in a timely manner and prior to internal and external deadlines is a necessity.

Position will be filled as EHS Specialist, EHS Engineer or Sr. commensurate with experience and skills.

Responsibilities Include :

  • Complete and submit greenhouse gas inventories and ESG reports in accordance with internal deadlines, state and federal regulations, and corporate guidance.
  • Coordinate LDAR monitoring schedules for requirements of Subpart W : Petroleum and Natural Gas Systems, NSPS, State BACT programs, and voluntary programs.
  • Manage and generate reports from our internal leak survey system
  • Track and interpret air quality regulations and advise management on future potential and likely concerns and issues.
  • Interact directly with federal, state, and local officials, as required.
  • Develop and implement ESG strategies and sustainability programs, including policy, procedures and monitoring.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Compile and analyze various ESG data sources and deliver the data in meaningful format.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with operations, engineering, and business development management and staff.
  • Proactively plan, organize and oversee assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of job performance.
  • Monitor schedules, budgets and evaluate the work of third party air contractors.
  • Travel as required; anticipated travel will be up to 20% time away from the office; motor vehicle and air travel anticipated.
  • Carry a company-provided cell phone and respond during working hours and non-working hours as required.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :

BS or BA in Engineering, Physical or Environmental Science, or related field.

REQUIRED SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE :

  • Minimum of 3-10 years of air quality engineering experience.
  • Expertise analyzing and interpreting air regulations.
  • Working knowledge of the Clean Air Act, state / local / tribal air quality regulations, Title V compliance requirements, source emission calculations using EPA or industry standard procedures, air pollution control technologies, and dispersion modeling.
  • Working knowledge of Greenhouse Gas regulations.
  • Working with Emissions Reporting Group on monthly, quarterly and annual emissions reports
  • Proficient in using standard word processing, and database software, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong spreadsheet skills required including macros, scripts and pivot tables
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to interact across multiple business units, including, but not limited to : other employees, all levels of management, vendors, agencies, and customers with courtesy and professionalism.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience providing training to field / operations and interacting directly with federal, state, or local officials.
  • Perform multiple tasks with strict and completing deadline, successfully.
  • Able to work efficiently in a team environment while also being able to work autonomously, as needed, to successfully perform the required and expected duties with minimal direct supervision.
  • Capable of taking directions from supervisors (s), adhering to required work schedules, focus attention on details and follow work rules.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

WORKING CONDITIONS :

  • Option for traditional schedule or 9 / 80
  • This position is eligible for the hybrid schedule (M-W in the office, Th & F at home when travel is not required)
  • Up to 20% travel is required and anticipated.
  • May be required to work non-traditional hours as needed and remotely.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

PREFERRED SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE :

  • Experience with emissions and compliance responsibilities for natural gas midstream segment.
  • Experience coordinating air compliance and management programs with operations personnel.
  • Experience with RACT / BACT / LAER, MACT / NESHAP, NSPS, and NSR / PSD.
  • Experience with CEMS and LDAR.
  • Record of successfully conducting regulatory analyses and developing cost effective implementation strategies for air quality matters at natural gas treatment, processing, transmission, and storage facilities.
  • Experience implementing and / or using OpsInfo or other Environmental Management Information Systems.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and logical thought processes with the ability to identify and resolve data acquisition issues is a plus.
  • Experience with project and financial budget development and implementation.
  • Professional Engineer certification is a plus.
