Position is contingent upon contract funding.

The Medium Voltage Electrician will perform installing, testing, repairing, and maintenance of medium voltage electric power-controlling equipment (Metal Clad Switchgear) and the overhead primary ahead of the four reclosers, including the reclosers themselves and the 6 additional new reclosers installed throughout the base and all their associated parts, located outside of the switchyard fence and distribution lines.

Work requires knowledge of electrical principles, procedures, materials, and safety standards governing electrical systems above 600 volts.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

• Install, operate, maintain, and repair electric wires, poles, cross arms and supports, transformers, metal clad switchgear, and other equipment and accessories of electrical power for distribution lines between power generation plant, and the demarcation point of the MW switchgear.
• Operate, maintain, and repair overhead, underground and temporary above-ground distribution system to include cable, pothead, cable box, oil fuse cutout, load limiter, control, instrument, etc.
• Install, operate, maintain, and repair outside lighting, and security lighting. Install, maintain, and repair all associated exterior electrical components within the power plant and primary switching stations.
• Install, operate, maintain, and repair distribution transformer, current regulator, oil circuit breaker, insulator, switching gear, control circuit, etc.
• Install, maintain, and repair low voltage electrical distribution system, lighting, circuit breaker, etc. within the power plant space.
• Interpret electrical data and provide technical requirements to the Project Manager and supply personnel.
• Assist in the repair or installation of battery bank and charger associated with the photovoltaic power plant.
• Assist power production technician in performing electrical distribution connections, etc.
• When necessary, work in, near, or on hot lines using appropriate equipment.
• Perform all work IAW OSHA, National, and Site-specific safety practices / procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Site Management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

• High school diploma or trade school course completion is required.
• 5 years of related experience at a journey level in the operation and maintenance of metal clad switchgears and reclosers.
• An advanced certification in assigned area required.
• Consideration will be given to relevant professional experience commensurate with assignment.

LICENSE & CERTIFICATIONS :

• Journeyman License.
• Valid Driver’s License
• Must have a Valid US Passport

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS :

• Must understand and apply primary and secondary distribution system constraints under field and emergency conditions.
• Must possess extensive knowledge in specialized functions, safety / industry best practices, and electrical principles.
• EATON metal clad switchgear preferred.
• Must have working knowledge, skill, and ability to understand and troubleshoot Metal Clad Switchgear both general and specific aspects of the job.
• Must apply practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
• Must be able to communicate professionally, orally, and in writing.
