Description of Duties and Tasks
- Prepare food for dogs and cats
- Walking / exercising dogs and cats
- Cleaning and sanitizing dog and cat cages / runs.
- Administering oral / topical medications to dogs and cats.
- Basic housekeeping (mopping, sweeping, and laundry)
- Entering patient notes into practice management software.
Knowledge
- Basic animal care
- Animal behavior
Skills
Basic animal care experience in areas such as feeding, animal ward sanitization, dog walking, cat care, and oral medication administration.
Technology Skills
Basic computer skills
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a veterinary kennel setting.
- Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
- Frequent lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
Safety
Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
