AMDA offers various pathways for students to receive unparalleled performing arts education taught by world-class industry professionals, including Professional Conservatory Certificates as well as undergraduate and graduate degrees (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts, Associate of Occupational Studies, Master of Fine Arts and Master of Arts)

AMDA is seeking qualified part-time / adjunct instructors to teach foundations of oral communications courses. The instructor is responsible for providing highly effective instruction through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear documentation of student progress, and support of academic success for all students.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Providing instruction in accordance with established curricula, course outlines, and class schedules
  • Upholding AMDA’s core values of equity and inclusion in the classroom and commitment to an environment of student safety and support
  • Creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking
  • Providing a learning vehicle for diversity and inclusion content
  • Evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and assessing and grading student’s work
  • Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics both in-person and on-line.
  • Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas
  • Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time adjunct faculty member
  • Maintaining accurate academic records
  • Utilizing LMS and sustaining student engagement
  • Consistent and timely communication with accurate reporting
  • Performing other related duties as assigned
  • Contribution to school community, including :
  • Active Engagement in required professional trainings and initiatives
  • Semester Faculty Meetings
  • Viewing student performances

Qualifications :

Required Educational Credentials :

  • Terminal degree or Master's degree (preferred) in Oral Communications. Communication studies, or a related field will be prioritized for review.
  • Applicants with extensive experience in higher education, plus a Master's degree in communications, oral communications, or a related field will also be considered.
  • Candidates should have relevant teaching experience in a higher education setting
  • Experience with Canvas LMS preferred
  • An appreciation for the traditions of a performing arts academic setting
  • Demonstrated leadership skills; style that emphasizes collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement instructional approaches with the effective use of technology.
  • Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning both in-person and online
  • Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints; ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people
  • Have a commitment and sensitivity to, as well as an understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles

Required Professional Expertise :

  • A minimum of three years of teaching in the related field Communication Education in a post-secondary setting
  • Experience with innovative teaching methodologies that focus on creating an engaging, student-centered learning environment
  • Currency and depth of knowledge in the applicable field
  • Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and practices that enhance student success at higher education institutions, including effective use of technology
  • Excellent oral / written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning
  • Successful candidates will be able to apply their discipline expertise in a manner / context that is relevant to emerging performing artists, In Person environment and through the LMS.
  • Active scholarship in related field

Salary Range : $45-$60 per hour for classroom teaching

For administrative and tasks assigned or volunteered outside of classroom teaching hours will be paid at a standard hourly rate of $25
