We would like to add a Systems Engineer to our team who has experience developing unique, production ready instrumentation.
We value a diverse, hands-on background with electro-optics systems and instrumentation to complement our on-site team in Hampton, Virginia.
Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Systems Engineer to develop and manage system requirements and to generate and execute system and software tests efforts for our second generation LiDAR to support defense and space contracts.
Our systems must operate under stringent ground, aviation and space environmental conditions. Highly-integrated sensors and supporting electronics will be necessary to achieve high performance requirements for our LiDAR systems and improved signal processing systems will result in a far-reaching impact in the field of autonomous vehicles.
As a Systems Engineer you will help Psionic deliver on contract requirements and field measurement campaigns.
Major Responsibilities
- Develop and manage system requirements
- Generate and execute system and software tests
- Generate and interpret system / subsystem specifications for engineering disciplines
- Debug and troubleshoot problems uncovered during integration and test
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
Education & Requirements
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Minimum five years of hands-on engineering experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing and documenting systems requirements and product specifications
- An ability to learn new skills and adapt to new technologies
- Experienced teamwork in the development and deployment of advanced electronic measurement and instrumentation systems or subsystems for laboratory, aero, or space flight systems.
- Experience with full life cycle development.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues that arise during testing.
