JobSummary :

TheTechnical Supervisor is the onsite resource for all troubleshootingfor lab processes potential technical issues and is the gotoresource to provide lab personnel support.

The Technical Supervisoris responsible to ensure all training and competency assessmentsare performed by all staff handling patient specimens.

Inconjunction with the Lab Manager the Technical Supervisor willensure all State and CLIA regulatory requirements are met.

TheTechnical Supervisor is responsible for productivity of allinfectious disease testing with a goal of providing 100% accuracyin delivering results.

EssentialResponsibilities / Duties :

• Mustbe accessible to testing personnel at all times to provide onsitetelephone or electronic support to resolve technical problems inaccordance with policies and procedures established either by theLaboratory Director or LabManager.
• Selection of the testmethodology that is appropriate for the clinical use of the testresults.
• Verification of the testprocedures performed and establishment of the laboratorys testperformance characteristics including the precision and accuracy ofeach test and test system.
• Enrollment and participation in anHHS approved proficiency testing program commensurate with theservices offered.
• Establishing aquality control program appropriate for the testing performed andestablishing the parameters for acceptable levels of analyticperformance and ensuring that these levels are maintainedthroughout the entire testing process from the initial receipt ofthe specimen through sample analysis and reporting of test results.
• Resolving technical problems andensuring that remedial actions are taken whenever test systemsdeviate from the laboratorys established performancespecifications.
• Ensuring thatpatient test results are not reported until all corrective actionshave been taken and the test system is functioning properly.
• Identifying training needs andassuring that each individual performing tests receives regularinservice training and education appropriate for the type andcomplexity of the laboratory services performed.
• Evaluating the competency of alltesting personnel and assuring that the staff maintain theircompetency to perform test procedures and report test resultspromptly accurately andproficiently.
• Demonstrateproficiency while running KingFisher Flex QuantStudio12K andQuantStudio5.
• Performing specimenprocessing and PCR reactions asneeded
• Is responsible for providingdaytoday supervision of high complexity test performance byqualified testing personnel.
• Demonstrate proficiency whilemanually pipetting and preparingsolutions.
• Assuring that allcorrective and preventive actions are taken whenever test systemsdeviate from the laboratorys established performancespecifications.
• Provide training andguidance to all testing personnel; and ensure completion ofperiodic competencyassessments.

Qualifications : Education

Education

• Master s Degree in achemical physical biological or clinical laboratory science isPREFFERED or
• Bachelors degree inlaboratory science AND 4 years lab training of experience in highcomplexity microbiology with a minimum of 6 months in subspecialtyof service or
• A physician surgeon ordoctorallevel scientist must have one year of prior experience in ahighlevel complexity testing environment.

Experience

• 12 years previoussupervisory experience required.
• Atechnical supervisor must be licensed to perform high complexitytesting or practice medicine in California. A physician and surgeonor doctorallevel scientist must have one year of experience amaster slevel scientist two years and a baccalaureatelevelscientist four years ofexperience.

Certifications / Licenses
