A Server's responsibility is attending to diners before, during, and after their meals by helping them place, receive, and pay for their orders.
They also ensure the timely delivery of food and beverages by checking on their tables periodically throughout the service time.
Being a great Server is about being attentive to the needs of their customers. They must have excellent listening skills and be detail-oriented since they have to understand exactly what people want.
They also need to ask the appropriate questions to deliver the best service possible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Report to work as scheduled, on time, well-groomed and dressed in proper uniform.
- Greet, seat and serve guests in a prompt, friendly, professional way.
- Know all abbreviations of food items.
- Take food and drink orders promptly and accurately.
- Pickup orders in window and deliver completed meals to correct customers in a timely manner.
- Check back with customers to ensure satisfaction with food and service, refill drinks, and take any additional orders.
- Ring up bills and deliver to customers. Check out customers at cash register.
- Handle customer complaints in a calm, courteous manner. Inform supervisor of any customer complaints or suggestions.
- Restock service areas.
- Keep service areas clean and complete all assigned cleaning tasks.
- Respond quickly to safety, cleanliness, and sanitation issues.
- Bus tables when busy.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the manager.
General Physical Demands for the Position :
Servers will regularly stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, turn, lift, walk, and carry, lift and balance up to fifty (50) pounds.
