Senior Data Security Engineer

The Senior Data Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the security of our data platform.

This role involves working closely with our Data Platform team to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our data systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data security, a deep understanding of backend data engineering, and experience with Databricks.

You will collaborate closely with data scientists, data engineers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless data integration, security and delivery.

Additionally, you will provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior members of the data engineering team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Security Design and Implementation : Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and controls to protect our data infrastructure from threats and vulnerabilities.
• Data Encryption and Access Control : Design and manage data encryption strategies and access control mechanisms to safeguard sensitive information.
• Incident Response : Lead the response to data security incidents, including investigation, mitigation, and reporting.
• Risk Assessment : Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify and address potential security issues.
• Collaboration : Work closely with the Data Platform team to ensure that security measures are integrated into all aspects of data engineering and platform development.
• Compliance : Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) related to data security and privacy.
• Monitoring and Reporting : Implement and manage security monitoring tools to detect and respond to security events. Provide regular reports on security status and incidents.
• Continuous Improvement : Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends and technologies. Continuously improve security processes and practices.

Requirements

• Technical Skills :
• Strong knowledge of data encryption, access control, and security protocols.
• Experience with Databricks and other big data platforms.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, or Scala.
• Familiarity with cloud security best practices (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with big data technologies like Spark are highly desirable
• Ability to analyze complex data requirements, troubleshoot issues, and propose innovative data engineering solutions.
• Experience with HIPAA and other regulatory compliance is desirable.
• Experience with SAP and other similar application is also desirable
• Experience with software security and vulnerability is desirable
• Familiarity with FIPS and CVE

Certifications : Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are highly desirable. Problem-Solving : Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and creatively.

Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Team Player : Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Education and Experience

Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. A master or higher degree is a plus

Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in data security engineering, with a focus on securing data platforms and infrastructure.

Salary Range

Alphatec Spine, Inc. complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and compensation depends upon candidate’s qualifications, education, skill set, years of experience, and internal equity.

$130,000 to $150,000 Full-Time Annual Salary.
