Position Summary

KOA has a current opening for an experienced Professional Senior Structural Marine Engineer that will develop a diverse portfolio of marine engineering projects with a focus on the design, construction, and maintenance of complex structural marine systems.

The successful candidate will utilize their experience and expertise in the field of marine engineering to provide solutions to a diverse clientele that includes multinational industry leaders.

Essential Functions

  • Perform structural calculations related to the analysis of marine and transshipment structures equipment and layout.
  • Prepare detailed plans and specifications related to marine / structural engineering projects, such as bulkhead walls, cells, bollards, piers, bridges, and other structures.
  • Conduct dynamic and static structural analysis to assess structures under various loading conditions and environmental factors.
  • Plan and perform field marine structure assessments and oversee upland and underwater field data collection.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols for marine structural design and construction.
  • Develop detailed equipment specifications for marine facilities and waterfront infrastructures.
  • Perform quality control inspections and tests on structural components and systems to verify their integrity and performance.
  • Investigate and diagnose structural issues, and implement effective repairs or modifications as needed.
  • Prepare proposals, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for engineering projects.
  • Analyze data, prepare reports, and deliver presentations on proposed and ongoing projects to internal staff and clients.
  • Mentor and oversee junior engineers and technicians.
  • Take an active leadership role with design development and delivery of final documents for marine projects.
  • Provide oversight, sign, and seal design documents and reports developed by structural staff members.
  • Perform QA / QC reviews throughout the design development process.
  • Work directly with clients to develop project options and alternatives, provide engineering guidance for project planning and development, field investigations, and critical issues.
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline groups within KOA to develop and deliver integrated projects.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships in the marine sector.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering and an active Professional Engineering License.
  • 10+ years of experience in marine / structural engineering design and construction, and inspection.
  • Knowledge and application of the principles and practices of CAD development and creation of drawing packages at various stages of design development.
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards (ASCE, ACI, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with Krech Ojard staff, individuals from other organizations, and client representatives.
  • Experience supervising or providing direct oversight to engineers and design professionals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project lifecycle and ability to manage complex engineering and multidisciplinary projects.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with interpretation, and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable port and marine terminals standards and guidelines.
  • Experience with commercial software packages.
  • Experience developing design packages and alternatives from concept to construction using AutoCAD or Revit software packages.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project lifecycle and ability to manage complex engineering and multidisciplinary projects in the context of structural design inputs and information requirements.

Compensation

Depending on the successful candidate's background and experience, compensation for this position will include an annual base salary in the range of $90,000 $140,000 per year.
