Summary
Schedule : Monday-Friday from 5 : 00am-1 : 30pm
Oversees bakeshop operation. Prepares and bakes cakes, pies, cookies, pastries and other dessert and food products for the hospital, patients, cafeteria customers, staff, and visitors.
Catering special events including products for Brighton and Scarborough campuses. Supervises the work of Baker's Assistant.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Education : Knowledge of baking methods and techniques normally acquired through a 2-year course in baking / culinary arts from a vocational technical school or equivalent experience in institutional, hospital or large volume restaurant.
License / Certifications : ServSafe Certified. Experience : See "Education" Must be capable of operating various institutional baking equipment, i.
e., rotary oven, mixers, roll press, pie press, scales, cake decorating tools, bain marie, steam jackets, proofers, pastry pump, automated donut machine, etc.
Ability to stand and walk most of work shift. Lifting and carrying sacks of ingredients and pans of baked goods weighing up to 100 pounds.
Work requires reaching, stooping, bending, and pushing of equipment and food products while performing duties. Ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to evaluate work of subordinate employees. Knowledge of HACCP Procedures. Knowledge of Quality and Performance Improvement principles.
