The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) currently has a talented and diverse workforce, but we are always looking to expand and grow.
We are seeking an IT Category Manager to provides leadership and program management to develop, implement, and manage strategic and operational initiatives for the IT Hardware category (and may include other categories, as assigned).
This position will devise a category strategy that will maximize the Commonwealth’s purchasing power and value of IT statewide contracts that benefit state agencies and other public bodies in a category of $200M+ annual spend.
- Areas of focus include strategic planning; contract management; serving as a key stakeholder in hardware sourcing projects;
- leading complex supplier negotiations; supplier relationship management; industry engagement; customer engagement; communications;
training; and change management.
The selected must be innovative and solution-oriented to address complex IT issues. Must have strong analytical skills to create data-driven business strategies.
Be able to identify opportunities for cost-savings and leverage Commonwealth spending to obtain best value. This position identifies process efficiencies, increases the utilization of statewide IT contracts across executive branch and public bodies by communicating value to customers.
Utilizes contract management and sales reporting systems to effectively manage contracts. Experience managing all aspects of a large enterprise program is needed.
Industry-specific experience in the hardware sector to understand the pricing strategies and negotiation tactics of the market is needed.
Ability to communicate within levels of an organization, including senior executives.
This is a new position within the Supply Chain Management division and requires a self-starter who will take initiative to contribute to the development of a new category management program.
Minimum Qualifications
Significant experience in various aspects of category management (i.e. strategic planning, complex negotiation, contract management, supplier relationship management, industry engagement, customer engagement, communications, training).
Experience in independently managing an IT hardware program.
Strong analytical skills.
Experience in communications, training, relationship development, and change management.
Possesses working knowledge of hardware industry.
Ability to self-start and work independently.
