Staff Tax Accountant

Acara Solutions is seeking a Staff Tax Accountant in Rutland, VT for our client, a leading organization in the solid waste and renewable energy industry! We are seeking qualified candidates with : A degree in Accounting / Finance Strong Microsoft Excel skills A driven, self-starter mindset! Here's what you'll do : Demonstrates knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and tax laws and regulations in relevant state, local and federal jurisdictionsPrepares and files tax returns including sales, use, excise, and other taxes in a timely manner.

Assists the Income Tax Manager in performing research on relevant tax questions and issues as they arise.Assists in compliance and reporting obligations for all taxes overseen by the Tax Department including federal, state and local corporate income tax, property taxes, franchise taxes, and abandoned and unclaimed property compliance and reporting.

Communicates with departments across the company to obtain necessary documentation for tax purposes.Analyzes and reconciles tax accruals.

Responds to communication from regulatory agencies.Participates in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of tax matters and the Company.

Assists with other miscellaneous returns and special tax projects as assigned.Position Type : Direct Placement Pay : Up to $85K / yr.

Minimum of 2 years' experience in an accounting / tax role. Minimum of 2 years' experience working in Microsoft Excel. Preferred Skills / Qualifications : Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.

Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and meet consistent deadlines.
