GENERAL SUMMARY
It is the responsibility of the Customer Service Agent to be a friendly, outgoing person who derives satisfaction from helping others through assistance to passengers and customers, while providing world class service.
Duties involve providing airport information and customer service throughout the terminal complex. Meet, greet, and direct visitors in the terminal and answer general information questions about the airport and City of Indianapolis, focused mainly on times of day when in-bound and out-bound travelers’ numbers are the highest.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide information to passengers and the public concerning flight and airport information, ground transportation and route information, as well as airport retail information.
- Assist passengers, guests and people appearing in person who have deafness or who speak languages other than English.
- Identify resources to assist members of the public by continuously moving throughout the terminal, as needed.
- Project a positive and professional image of the airport and industry.
- Be pleasant and professional while executing excellent customer care and service.
- Accept and distribute lost and found items and ensure accurate records are maintained.
- Perform any other functions assigned, including tasks that may pertain to the overall cleanliness of the terminal.
- Perform all the essential functions of the job outlined above without creating a direct threat to the safety of oneself, subordinates, or other person(s) in and around the airport.
- Any other duties, as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Graduation from a standard high school or successful completion of a high school equivalency examination or any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skill and ability to perform the duties of this position.
- Friendly, outgoing person who derives satisfaction from helping others.
- Must have ability to write, read and understand, talk, see and hear.
- Effectively communicate and comprehend English, both orally and in writing.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of two (2) years prior experience in public contact environment or airlines background.
- The ability to speak and comprehend Spanish is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit, stand, walk for lengthy time periods.
- Ability to see, hear, talk, write.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard, office equipment, and telephones.
- Ability to perform required essential job functions in with many distractions.
